Donor Spotlight: Margaret Wyzlic

Margaret Wyzlic’s connection to the Jim Toy Community Center began years ago through friendships formed around what was then known as OutFest, before it became Ann Arbor Pride. Through those relationships, she came to know the people behind the Center’s work and the importance of having a strong, visible LGBTQ+ community in Ann Arbor.
That connection has stayed with her. Today, Margaret supports JTCC because she wants her LGBTQ+ friends and neighbors, especially young people, to have every opportunity to thrive.
For Margaret, Ann Arbor Pride is one of the clearest reflections of what the Center helps make possible. She describes it as the most welcoming and joyful event of the year in Ann Arbor, a celebration of community, visibility, and belonging. It’s a reminder that when people have spaces where they feel safe, seen, and supported, they can show up fully as themselves.
That is what she hopes her support continues to make possible: opportunities for connection, healing, and joy, and a place where LGBTQ+ people know they are welcome. Through her giving, Margaret is helping sustain a community where people can gather, celebrate, and find the support they need, not just during Pride, but all year long.
