Dear LGBTQ+ Community of Washtenaw County and our allies,

​

As I sit in our newly opened space at 560 S. Main, I am humbled by the journey that has brought us to this moment. This new home represents far more than bricks and mortar—it is a beacon of hope and a gathering place for connection, empowerment, and celebration.

​

2024 has been nothing short of transformative for the Jim Toy Community Center and the vibrant community we serve. Together, we’ve reached new heights, building on a foundation of love, resilience, and pride that has defined us for decades.

​

None of this year’s incredible growth would have been possible without you. To our generous donors, dedicated volunteers, and unwavering supporters—thank you for believing in our mission. Your contributions, time, and encouragement have fueled everything from opening our new space to the success of Ann Arbor Pride and the launch of life-changing programs. Together, we have built a stronger, more vibrant community and are endlessly grateful for your support.

One of this year’s highlights was Ann Arbor Pride, our most expansive celebration yet. Standing on the main stage, I looked at a sea of smiling faces—more than 10,000 attendees who came together to fill the streets with color, music, and love. Vendors, performers, and families of every kind were united in the simple yet powerful truth that love is love. It was a profound reminder of our collective strength, especially when the world can feel uncertain.

But this year wasn’t just about big events—it was about deepening connections and creating lasting change. We worked alongside partners across the county to bring queer-focused programming to life, ensuring that every member of our community had spaces to thrive. From launching new initiatives at the Center to advocating for affirming policies at every level of government, 2024 was a testament to what we can achieve when we stand together.

As we look ahead to 2025, I am filled with excitement and purpose. This next chapter offers even greater opportunities to grow and strengthen our impact:

​

• Expanding Our Programming: Reaching more people with services and activities that affirm and celebrate LGBTQ+ identities.

• Advocating for Our Rights: Amplifying voices and fighting for protections in an ever-changing political climate.

• Deepening Our Partnerships: Collaborating with like-minded organizations and businesses to extend our reach and amplify our collective power.

But we cannot do this alone. The Jim Toy Community Center is, at its core, a community-driven effort. That’s where you come in. Your support—whether through donations, volunteering, or simply showing up—makes all the difference. Every dollar, every hour, and every shared idea brings us closer to our vision: a future where all LGBTQ+ people can thrive.
